I started in 2014 with photography and it was quite a journey because I am really not good with technology. For a few years, I just shot everything but I was not feeling at all happy with what I was achieving. Then I met a well known photographer for a session and in few minutes, by watching me and talking to me, he told me – this is your voice! That is how you want to shoot. I was totally surprised because he hit the nail on the head! And there it was all the time right in front of me and I didn’t see it. Looking at all the photos I saved from Facebook to keep as inspiration, there it was. . .mystical, mysterious, soft focus and quite abstract. I was set free – now I can shoot!
The next obstacle was ‘no, I can’t post this, people are going to think I am a bit crazy’. So another photographer encouraged me to post telling me all the time people will get used to it and start to like it. Ah, I am so thankful for his support because it helped me so much along the line.
I was then invited to an art photo group where, suddenly, I had to sit between people while they are looking at my photos and giving their input. That was wonderful because I was accepted and it helped my confidence and photography grow a lot.
Along the line another good friend showed me even more techniques of exploring my way of shooting. I am so very thankful to all of them. Growth in your art is a never ending process and I like to keep on pushing the boundaries, while totally loving it. It can be frustrating sometimes; but, oh, can it pick me up and give me joy! And to this day I still get support and tons of inspiration from other photographers. So, a big thank you to all of you – you know who you are!
In this video, I talk a bit more about finding my voice and share a part of my photography style that I really enjoy (though there are many other elements and tools I love to use as well).
