I created this piece during my time at the Ruth Prowse School of Art. I absolutely loved my time there. We were encouraged to draw our image block by block. I really struggled with it. Anyone that knows me, knows that I don’t like to be constricted when creating art. I draw, paint and photograph from an authentic place, with emotion, not blocks! I didn’t give up, though, I spent hours getting her just right and through this process I learnt a lot!
I hated this piece of Art, but through the process of creating it, I learned so much.
Often, our greatest struggles, bring our greatest wisdom and joy. This experience was definitely a struggle and took me out of my comfort zone, but I am grateful for the experience.
The comfort zone is the great enemy to creativity; moving beyond it necessitates intuition, which in turn configures new perspectives and conquers fears.Dan Stevens
